About Us

Waxed Wing is a passion project founded by Trevor Tochydlowski, a 25-year-old Pennsylvanian with a love for the outdoors and his friends Casey, Elijah, and Jake. Frustrated by what the market had to offer, Waxed Wing set out to create unapologetically simple, tough knives at a reasonable price point. Using materials exclusively manufactured in the U.S., Waxed Wing has grown into an international endeavor built on this premise. Everything is handmade right here in Northeast Pennsylvania, and we're damn proud of that. We take pride not only in our blades but also in our communication, warranty, and customer service. And hey, if you ever want to learn more about knife making, send us a message!

Many people have asked about the name "Waxed Wing". Surprisingly, no—it has nothing to do with Cedar Waxwings. The name draws inspiration from the Greek myth of Icarus, a story about balance. Fly too high, and the wax holding your wings together melts. Fly too low, and your feathers get wet, dragging you into the sea. Icarus, of course, flew too close to the sun, but we’ve embraced the "balance" mentality for our blades. It's a reminder of humility: to stay in your lane and never get too big for your britches. This idea influences both the ergonomics of our knives and the moral compass of our business—a balance we hope is reflected in everything we do.
